Documentary & Verité Storytelling

From intimate portraits to long-form films

Documentary, Jesse’s Fight

In February 2022, Russia invades Ukraine. Ukrainians fight for their freedom and receive support from people across the world. Veterans. Idealists. Also Dutch citizens. They travel to the front to fight. The stories of Dutch fighters have so far remained in the shadows. Behind the front line, far from the news, a reality unfolds that we rarely see. Sinan Can follows the trail of Jesse, a young Dutchman at the front. Through his eyes, we see the war again. What drives someone to give up everything for a war that is not his own?

Not Your Ordinary Reel

This isn’t a typical cinematography reel.

I stepped in front of the camera to share the values that guide my work:

Empathy – Building trust so real moments unfold naturally.

Collaboration – Filmmaking is a collective craft; my best work comes from working closely with directors, producers, and subjects.

Spontaneity – I embrace the unplanned moments that bring authenticity to a story.

Passion & Precision – Two decades in, I’m still as driven as ever to create visuals that matter.

Cinematography, for me, is connection as much as it is craft. Every frame carries that intention.
